Abstract
Elevating user experience in smart cabins hinges upon smart automotive glazing that reconciles conflicting optical, thermal, and electromagnetic design constraints. Synthesizing cutting-edge developments in precision fabrication, numerical simulation, and high-performance surface treatments, this review evaluates the technical bottlenecks constraining real-world application. Evidence indicates that closed-loop thermal compensation algorithms enhance dimensional control; nevertheless, stochastic environmental disturbances during thermoforming prevent simulations from reliably anticipating localized geometry drift. Furthermore, isolated laboratory weathering assays frequently fail to predict actual functional degradation driven by simultaneous photochemical attack and mechanical abrasion. Component longevity therefore demands a paradigm shift from fragmented bench testing to system-level durability engineering. We outline critical research pathways toward multi-scale prognostics that connect nano-scale coating stability, structural curvature compliance, and real-time manufacturing telemetry.
