Abstract

Chronic systemic diseases, encompassing sustained hypertension, cognitive decline, and oncological affective distress, increasingly demonstrate that physiological pathology is inseparable from psychoneurotic disequilibrium, exposing the constraints of organ-centric biomedical interventions. Grounded in the classical paradigm of "Harmonization of Body and Mind", traditional Chinese non-pharmacological modalities, particularly acupuncture, time-adjusted moxibustion, and external therapies, are gaining attention for their prospective restorative capacity across reciprocal psycho-somatic axes. Preliminary observational cohorts and clinical protocols suggest that these somatic modalities may, to some extent, alleviate neuro-vascular resistance, stabilize neurocognitive deterioration, and temper hyperactive sympathetic outflow. However, deciphering definitive therapeutic mechanisms remains challenging due to pervasive methodological heterogeneity, including the difficulty of isolating specific meridional stimulation from non-specific therapeutic alliance and the diagnostic fluidity of individual pattern identification. Observed shifts in neuro-endocrine-immune markers might conceivably reflect generalized relaxation rather than targeted chronobiological entrainment, indicating that further research is needed to validate purported channel-specific actions. Considering the above factors, bridging this epistemic divide requires standardizing somatic intervention protocols while developing objective, multi-system biological phenotyping that respects the dynamic holism intrinsic to traditional psychosomatic medicine without reducing it to simple psychological reassurance.
